U removed camels and Onagers.
Now Chinese have a hard time countering ballista elephants and Saracens. THeir handcannoneers can simply kill all fire lancers. Before the Chinese could use their camels and didnt get countered by handcannoneers. It was a very strong civ against the saracens and Khmer. ALso ballista elephants kill fire lancers fast, the camels were miles better at countering them.
To fix the chinese:
give them the new chinese cav instead of the cavalier
Bro, technically you are right but you are more so wrong. First of all, the Chinese have a long lived reputation for being the hardest civ in the game to both balance and play. This is because players at lower skill levels can’t take advantage of their bonuses while higher level players can. However, it’s alright if we have 1 extremely hard civ out of 50 civs in the game though.
Proof that Chinese are meant for more skilled players as winrate = 56% at higher level:
In conclusion, leave the Chinese alone. Just play with the other 49 civs in the game if you don’t enjoy the difficulty and quirkiness of the Chinese.
the Chinese have a huge weakness. THey have no siege engeniering. And have no good cav. THey get hard countered by siege onager civs. This is why they need buffs
But their Chu Ko Nu rocks. If they get bombard cannon to kill siege onagers, Chinese will be invincible. The ‘huge’ weakness is intended design. Their monks even cannot accesss to redemption for this reason.
That’s the opponent’s win con. Stall until late game and get to (Siege) Onagers with Siege Engineers.
As Chinese you have the win the game beforehand against Civs that have this option. That’s one of the main reasons why they perform so badly in lower ELOs.
Full blacksmith upgrades, bloodlines, heavy CA that only miss parthian tactics, and even a small tech discount. Only missing paladin (generally too expensive for 1v1) and hussar (arguably the least important tech for the light cav line). Might not be top-tier, but still fairly respectable.
Of course, deathmatch is very different from more popular types of gameplay, and I don’t really play deathmatch.
