Civilization Idea: Croatians

I don’t think a nomadic set should be made, just because it would look extremely janky and unnatural.

That dosent mean they are all the same right?by that logic all indo europeans or dravidian language family factions should be one big umbrella.

If anyone needs a new monastery its the Ethiopians.

Yeah but then what architecture do you give to Huns, cumans and Mongols?

They keep the same architecture they have now. I don’t see anything wrong with the architecture they currently have, so it doesn’t have to change.

Even though their territory is modern day Croatia, Narentines or Pagania were Serb tribes. Of course today that is disputed simply because of modern territories…

Anyway, i like your civ idea very much!

Difference here is that the sclavenians started diverging during the AoE2 timespan, which is quite recent compared to most modern peoples.

Now that we brought the topic back, I thought I’d let everyone know that I extended the reduced unit damage from proximity to TCs to all land units, including villagers, not just military units. It will be another eco bonus for the civ and will be a boost to Monks as well.

Tomislav’s campaign, which also includes Croatians civ (with Zupan and Kondura unique units. Zupan can be a regional unit shared with Serbs civ), is just great. This is solid content at the level of what the creators serve us. Since the creators released fan scenarios as V&V DLC, they can also create a DLC that brings together the best fan content along with its improvement and support. This way, the authors could earn money from their work and we, the players, could receive the best version of these mods - as well as support their creators.

Such a DLC could include fan civs, campaigns and even Architecture Sets.

BTW. Do you remember Age of Chivalry: Hegemony? It was a fan mod that changed the game significantly. It contained some interesting things that could be included in a fan DLC:

  1. a lot of completely new Architecture Sets for European civs
  2. unique buildings (I will mention the two most interesting ones): Guild Hall (mercenary building), Princely Court (hero building)
  3. a lot of brand new European civs that could be packed into just a few (in brackets I will list those civs that are in this mod): Allemanians (Helvetia), Bavarians (Austria and Bavaria), Lotharingians (Flanders, Friesland, Guelders and Liège), Saxonians (Brandenburg and Saxony) and also Danes, English and Scots
  4. two or three different paths to choose for every state, based on Policy Decisions
  5. a new campaign of 9 scenarios based on the battle of Bouvines, the Barons’ War, the conquest of West Friesland, the battle of Kortrijk, the start of the Hundred Years War, the Chioggia War, the siege of Maastricht, the battle of Vitkov Hill, and the siege of Neuss

As you can see, this mod adds a lot of interesting content. Guild Hall and Princely Court could be added to all civs. Policy Decisions mechanic also.

I think the creator behind tomislav (also apranik and mihira boja) is already in the official dev team. If V&V didn’t flop so hard I could have definitely see her campaigns becoming official but given the circumstances I think that isn’t anymore a viable way for creators to gain something out of their work (I mean the ones who aren’t in the team already).

I just learned that multiple units exist in AoE3 that speak Croatian. So if anyone were to mod this civ in, the military units could use those units’ voice lines. I can’t imagine that the official Croatians would reuse AoE3 voice lines, but it would be neat if they did.

This would be especially funny because one of the attack lines is just a villainous-sounding laugh, which would be very entertaining.

That’s what the Burgundians should have been.

Could be just Suebians as an umbrella for speakers of High German, which would also include the Lombards.
