Greeks were way before the Dark Age 
and way after the imperial age . Everything in between is represented by the Byzantines and Turks
You get the Byzantines. What else did you want?
Maybe he did not notice byzantines as greeks because they speak latin instead of greek?
Byzantines are Romans, not Greeks. Turks are most certainly not Greeks.
Turks are Persians. Italians are Romans.

They are not the same, they don’t share neither the language, culture, faith, race…
i never said they are the same … but Greece didn’t exist between the rise of the roman empire all the way until late 19th century, because it was either part of Byzantium or part of Ottoman (turks) empire. So Greece skipped the whole period that AOE represents.

To give a short answer to this ineffable amount of concentrated ignorance; Turks are NOT Persians, Italians are NOT Romans and Byzantines were MOSTLY Greeks or Hellenized subjects of the eastern half of the Roman empire.
If you want to play a Greek civ, this is it.

The Greeks appear in aoe 1,aom and aoe online…in aoe 2 the Greeks are represented by the Byzantines, who spoke Greek from the sixth century onwards…then in 1453 the Byzantines are conquered by the Turks, and the Greeks would not get their independence until 1821,during the period of aoe 3 after the Napoleonic wars…
