Following the last year update on vanilla natives, I propose this new flavour to one of the most classic yet less used nats in the american maps.
They are cheap but their stats don’t make up for it. So after reading som of the wikipedia page on Comanche, I notices they adopted the horse culture exclusively great. And considering we are now in the DE era, why not add some flavour to it.
Add:
-Villager tags, can benefit from villager techs/cards.
-Reduce their range to 10 so it won’t be op with Blunderbuss tech.
-Can gather food from huntables.
-Increase cost to 90f 80w.
This would not only make them more versatile and have some synergy with their TP techs(cav speed), you could also soft-counter other light cav due to their villager tags.

I am in favor of your suggestion, I would like to see a reworking of the native Americans with the same mechanics as the European natives, a large button could be added with skill like that of the royal houses, new technologies and a second unit since there are natives they only have a single unit in the trading post, which puts them at a disadvantage with their European counterpart, In addition this reworking would give a better quality of life to the American maps.

This could lead to annoying games where your opponent herds/kills your hunts. I think it would be more annoying then Mexico’s Cuatrero since the Horse Archer would be be able to hunt in age 2 rather than having the ability locked behind an age 3 card.
Blunderbuss would be a 23% damage increase paired with 35% hp from great coats means for 150 food it would be a better unit than after the age 3 unit upgrade tech. It can also be easy to get the techs before age 2. Also pioneers would be a pretty busted +65% hp card for them.
The base ranged damage isn’t that bad. It is the same as the Cavalry Archer which is more expensive. It’s the heavy cavalry multiplier that is pretty low.
If the unit is considered weak, a solution could be to increase the damage multiplier vs cavalry by 0.25 or increase the base hp by 10-20 or something.
I used the unit the other day against a German player and it seemed to work alright for my purposes. I’d say it’s one of my favorite legacy native units.

Now that you mention it, the Royal Huntsman doesn´t impose that much of a threat, I guess it has something to do with them being vill-skirm hybrid, vulnerable to heavy cav raids. Something similar could be tackled for my idea, like a speed reduction, 1 unit queue, low food gathering rates and so on.
My concept is instead of buffing its numbers, just add some mechanics to it, we now have plenty of diverse european nats, some of the classic ones could use some love as well.

one part is them being skirms so they are easier to kill and slower which is one of the reason why hunting light cav would be(and was with mexico) one of the most cancerous things in the game but there’s also the fact that military units that get buffed by vill techs don’t receive teh full buf - same goes for the frencht revolution units afaik
Edit: Royal Huntsmen are also no really military units until you get their upgrade but with that they lose the ability to hunt so you will see them either hunting or fighting.

Make them as weak as a Keshik then. There’s already an example, the mapuche bolas rider has 6.75 speed, same as a hussar. You get those two concepts and put it in Comanche. Weak, slow, hunting light cav, so you can OneShot them with skirm/bows easily.
The reward is herding and being proactive in the map.
