There’s been a lot of talk lately about OP Civs, but I’ve had a different thought for a while: Which civs, when combined with units AND upgrades, make the best combo?
Case in point: Goths and Teutons
UUs: TK and Huscarl
Imagine spamming +3 MA Huscarls from Barracks supported by Teuton eco.
What are your combinations? Any 2 Civs smashed into 1 with a combined the tree and bonus line.
Lithuanians and Burgundians, self explanatory, castle age cavilers with relic attack and bloodlines, 150 starting food with cheaper and early eco techs.
Cheap Siege Onagers with 10 range.
Halbs with Druzhina that costs less wood.
War Wagon for anti archer and Boyar for anti melee.
A lot of interesting combos.
Britons + Vikings for crazy booms with extra range do you can camp behind walls and castles and never die + more hp halb to keep longbow safe. Ideal game would be faster food collection sheep, more hp men at arms open followed by crazy strong arch play, immediate wheelbarrow with crazy boom in castle age. Extra hp halb + longbows + onager would be the play. Main points of the civ:
Great early opens
Great early and mid eco
Maybe not the most op army comp post imp
Lithuanians and Malians
Paladins with +9 ATK, Huss with 16ATK (otherwise imagine Bulgarians+Malians)
Halbs with 9pierce armour.
Fully upgraded Arbs.
And Absolutely Crazy Eco
Khmer + Malay = you outeco everyone and you have ungodly cheap yet super strong eles. Or if you hate monks, Burmese+Malay. Eco is still good and you can easily get heresy to ruin monk shenanigans.
I think Chinese + Lithuanians will have the strongest start: you start with +3 Villagers and will not have any TC idle time. You are also very flexible.
Before they removed Obsidian Arrows: Persians and Mayans for cheap trash-fullupgradet-buildingmelting-arbalest.
Now: maybe Chinese and Brits for chu-ku-no with 3 extra range possibility and good eco behind.
Or for closed, lategame oriented maps: Mongols and Turks for Manguadai with last armorupgrade and 20 extra hp from Siphai, free Chemestry AND free fullupgradet hussar with extra hp and extra piercearmor AND drill bbc with extra 2 range and siege engineering.
Azgothmese their bonus is perfusion and the aztec bonus for castle age passivly the burmese bonus for the militia line and the creation is automaticly slapped on barracks
