Community Suggested Improvements to AoM:R

Over the past month or so I’ve been working with multiple members of the active community to put together a list of suggestions to improve the game through QOL changes while specifically avoiding changes that could affect balance. We’ve put together what we think is a good list of general improvements to the game that could help everyone without requiring a large amount of dev time or worries about balance changes.

General/Community Suggestions

  • Reduce Fear Of Missing Out Elements in community events (Suggested by ManneredDesert7) - Implement a means of obtaining limited time event items for players who missed out.
  • Additional stats in player profile (Suggested by Deniho) - Similar individual stats to site like aomstats.io in game

Ranked Suggestions

  • Allow having multiple game profiles
  • Rank Divisions
  • Allow for pausing of Comp Games when both parties agree (Suggested by ExiledCourier)
  • Allow Players in Ranked to vote for a Rematch (Suggested by NickCamp)
  • Persistent Ranked Team Groups (Suggested by ZagorathAus) - Allow players to remain in the same team ranked party after a match ends

Lobby/Game Setup Suggestions

  • Persistent Lobbies for Non-Queue games (Suggested by Thanik) - Allow players to stay in lobby after game ends
  • FFA Queue
  • Allow for custom games to start without every slot filled (Suggested by NickCamp)
  • LAN custom game lobby (Suggested by Slush G) - Allow custom games to be invite only.
  • Publicly Visible Data-Modded Custom Lobbies (Suggested by Thanik)
  • Search bar for map selection (Suggested by Skray)

In-Game Suggestions

  • Show relic individual icons on a big map.
  • Improved rejoin mechanisms after Crash (Suggested by Looki) - Rejoining after crash, pause on crash, toggleable
  • Hotkeys to automatically add a unit to a control group (e.g. BAR) (Suggested by Thanik)
  • Remove Control Group / Selection unit limit for the player (Suggested by Thanik)
  • Add Pre-Queuing techs and aging up on Consoles (Suggested by NickCamp)
  • Add drawing and text boxes in-game for team communication and personal planning (Suggested by Deniho)
  • Allow for separate military and economic rally points (Suggested by Ashinferno)
  • Allow player to set which temple/dock spawns free myth unit on age up (Suggested by ZagorathAus)
  • More UI/HUD Adjustment options (Suggested by Croissantini) - Lock Camera max zoom, toggle enemy healthbars, health bar size, top down perspective toggle.
  • Add a way to access the Compendium and detailed descriptions for units/buildings/techs from the train/build grid at a building, villager, etc. (Suggested by McLerristarr)
  • Add a rate-of-change / delta view toggle for the various Postgame statistics (Suggested by Thanik)
  • Allow the player to specify whether units should keep formation (move at slowest’s speed) or move at best speed (Suggested by Thanik)
  • Add a “Follow this Unit” Command (Suggested by Thanik)

Spectator Suggestions

  • In-Game notification when players join/leave the game
  • Spectator UI Improvements (Suggested by ByTor75) - See caravan/fishing ship counts as applicable in UI, allow adding global trackers for units, etc (see main doc)
