Compilation of all the big complains of the upcoming DLC

  1. 3rd century civs.
  2. Adding civs that were very short lived and lacked distinct cultural or ethnical identity.
  3. Developing Chronicles then not utilizing this.
  4. Hero units in ranked.
  5. Khitans using Tanguts Castle and UU. (Can we call them Khitanguts = Khitan + Tanguts?)
  6. No campaign for Meideval civs. None for Chinese, Japanese, Koreans or even new Jurchens and Khitans.
  7. Khitans & Jurchens don’t have their own voice lines.

Also, civs that are short-lived rump states and lacked distinct cultural or ethnical identity.

It’s like adding Nicaea, Trebizond and Epirus as different “civilizations” when Byzantines is still there.

It’s worse than being “3rd century” civs.

  1. They aren’t distinct cultures from Chinese
  2. They lasted for an insignificant amount of time

Chinese are the real civilization other variant factions are not civilizations. Name is literally three kingdoms.

Locking the Khitans and Jurchens, both highly demanded, behind that DLC. But this can be fixed if a future DLC giving them campaigns, is an alternative way of unlocking them.

Thank you for the sump up, this is pretty much how most people think about the DLC.

I’d also add the…“mis-communications” that occurred.

We were told we weren’t getting a china split. We got a china split. Showing what can only be interpreted as Jurchens and Tanguts, then not getting tanguts. Showing Jurchens and tanguts to tease a dlc for which those civs are un-representative of 60% of the civs, and 100% of the single player content. Telling us we’re getting 5 civs cause that’s what was needed to tell the stories they wanted to tell, then having Jurchens and Khitans not interact at all with 3k.

It’s V&V all over again. Communicate one thing, release another. Pretend like you’re confused how we got the wrong idea.

Compilation of fix for the big complains of the upcoming DLC

Why not simply add same Civ under 2 names?
Wei for chronicles and Xianbei for default game mode?
Shu for chronicles and Bai for default game mode?
Wu for chronicles and Yue for default game mode?
Why not have both Chinese and Han?

Focus more on the timeline, make chronicles Asian factions
and add more campaigns for all timelines for the next DLC.

I just agree with everything.

Time frame is problematic, but I could accept it because it’s not Europe or the Middle East. But heroes, not using Chronicles, and mostly mostly the irrelevance of the three kingdoms as separate civilisations make it very uncomfortable…

@devs, please do something. If you must push back the DLC launch date, that’s okay, but listen to the base.

In the sneak peek, they say the Tanguts in the Genghis Khan campaign will receive a civ change, then in the lastest patch note:

Gengis Khan #3: ‘Into China’

  • Due to technical issues, the following previously announced changes have been postponed until a later update: Changed the civilization of “Tanguts” to Khitans.

Like what kind of technical issues you would face when it’s just changing a civ in a scenario? And if Tanguts’ civ was never planned, what civ would they gonna change it to?

Almost like they’re intentionally to trick us into thinking there will be a Tanguts civ.

Actually 80% since there is no Tanguts civ. What a scam

Wait what does this mean? Their units don’t speak a unique language?

Khitans speak Mongolic. Jurchens speak Chinese. 111111111

OK this is a whole new level of disrespect. Jurchen language belongs to Manchu-Tungus languages while Mandarin belongs to Sino-Tibetan languages. Khitans have their own language too.

With the screenshots of Shu (Whitefeather Guard) they were expecting Nanzhou, the Bai people. That should be a replacement.
One of the other two civs should be replaced with Tanguts.
And there is a demand for Thai/Siamese.

The devs took a playbook our of aoe4 (Joan of arc civ with heroes), and it bombed as everyone on the forum could have told them.

It would have been sooo easy to make a greatest dlc of all time. After all the did deliver with this dlc one of the best patches ever, by including a ton of Long standing simple requests from the community and forum (for example monk skin) .

Before the devs work themselves into a corner, just ask the community which civs they would like to see.

Pick from the popular ones.

Now they finished a dlc, got devastating feedback, but it’s too late to change anything…

Was this some kind of ceo decision who doesn’t even play the game. “Oh look 3 kingdoms is popular in China, let’s cash out” probably will even work.

But the community isn’t happy.

Also pisses me off that I can’t get the 2 new actual civs without buying these crapy 3 kingdoms. I feel like they did this on purpose to force the sale of this DLC knowing noone would buy it if it was only the 3k civs.

3K is not bad per say. But its simply terrible in execution. Just simply remove from ranked along with Medieval civs and make it more Antiquity centric would solve the critical issue. As in civs having Chronicles touch ups. Dont necessarily needs to be tech tree being exact same as Chronicles but some name/sprite changes would solve it. Like new age names.

  1. Lack of Trebuchets in the castle.
  2. Traction Trebuchets costing food.
  3. Dual firing mode of the War Chariot.
  4. Shu “Lumberjacks generate food”.
  5. Wei Tiger Cavalry.
  6. Wu Jian Swordsman.
  7. Wu “Military production buildings and Docks provide +65 food”
  8. Wu “Infantry regenerates 10/20/30 HP per minute in Feudal/Castle/Imperial Age”.

And I am probably forgetting something.
