Why isn’t there a way to play campaign cooperatively in AoM Retold?
I think it would be fun for two or maybe three people to be able to control one civ in a campaign map and play through the story like that.
You could see ingame who is currently selecting which unit with colorful circles around the units and who gave order to them if they are moving. Or who has assigned a group of units for themselves. (Or maybe this is not needed and could be turned off in the settings)
But each player controls their own faction.
Age of Mythology has the advantage of supporting 12 players. It is easier to add a new allied civilisation in a existing scenario than to develop a synchronisation of one civ between several players.
A small reminder of the original game with the option to share resources between allies in multiplayer games. We were getting closer to that kind of experience.
A way around that would be allow the campaign levels that start with 2 bases to be played in co op as 2 separate civs with the same gods. Its not many and its not much but at least it could be used to explore how many people would interact with such a feature.
