Hello!
I am experiencing crashes every time I try to start Aoe2 DE. The splash screen launches and when the game passes “starting game” and the small splash screen appears I get a crash.
I am running Aoe2 through xbox pc game pass. When I go offline the game launches just fine, as soon as I go online again, it crashes. I tried reinstalling the game, and running as admin.
Please help.

Because the game launches fine offline and crashes the moment it goes online, the culprit is almost certainly something that only initializes during online sync: mods, profile/cloud-save sync, Xbox services, or a conflicting overlay/hook.
I would first try disabling mods or repairing Xbox/Gaming Services.
If that doesn’t work, then I would check
C:\Users\[yourusername]\Games\Age of Empires 2 DE\[yourgameid]\logs\
for the latest txt file right after a crash to see what is logged as the error.
That should hopefully be enough to get you going in the right direction!
