Crashing during Game Load Error 0xc0000005

AOE II is crashing during the initial load after a fresh install from CDs. OS is Win10, 8GB RAM, AMD A6-4400M Dual-Core 2.7GHz. Does not have compatibility mode enabled and am running it is the administrator. I cycled through all of the options on the compatibility mode tab without success.

Hi @DonaldWayne1976 !

If you are attempting to play the CD version of the game on newer versions of Windows, I would highly recommend using the UserPatch.
It is the gold standard in fixing bugs and allowing the game to be played on modern operating systems with modern screen resolutions.

The website I linked has the download you need, and the instructions that tell you how to install it.

Hope this helps!

I’m 100% sure why people are flagging you, but I expect it’s because of one of the following reasons:

  1. You’re spamming the same post on a number of different threads.
  2. You’re necroing threads that are 2-3 years old.
  3. The thread has already been solved, and what you’re doing isn’t needed.

Either way, just bear it in mind.
