Creating units in lots as in AOE3 in AOEDE?

Remember you could creat 5 units at the same time in AOE3? What about applying that on the AOEDE?
I think it would make armies more easy to create, what are your thoughts?

They’re being careful to keep the original feel of the game. Personally, I would be against adding that because it would change starting builds and rushes too much.

You could create many units on Rise of Rome at least.

The OP does not mean unit queues, he means making 5 units and all 5 appearing together like in Age of Empires 3.

Creating batches. I think they don’t make this possible. They even want gates or garrison units…

I think this will change a lot the mecanic os the game, and the developers say they dont wanna to do that.

Yeah I don’t think this will be happening anyway, it would change the mechanics too much imo, and plus the engine would have to change to adapt for this

I agree it would change the game play too much

It’s one of the points that makes AoE 1 different from the other AoEs… I personnally think that it would be an error to make it possible

I don’t like the idea. It would change the gameplay too much.

This is ridiculous. Comfort changes like this wouldn’t harm the gaming experience, i guess most players would appreciate “mechanic” optimizations like these. Or is it just me and Paquimex?

A poll/survey application for this forum would be awesome!

AoE3 is the only game that creates units in batches as far as I know…no other RTS does that that I’ve played. Also, it is so far removed from all the other Age of Empires games and would be broken in AoE1 imho being able to pop out 5 units at once in a proxy rax for example.

I misunderstood topic. I thought you were against unit queuing… Building units simoultaneleysly would be in fact ridiculous

Hopefully this won’t happen.

Queuing is in the game, that much we know. They’ve even confirmed it’s the AoE2 system, where you can queue up multiple types of units at once. Making units in batches, however, would throw the entire balance WAY too far off of what AoE1 is designed for - there is no time difference in making 1 unit or 5, bar resources and pop space. That’s something that would have to be massively balanced for, and imo it would kill the feel of AoE1.

Hi everyone. I agree with most of you, it would change the original AOE feelings, even though they might change it a bit with a more AOE2 system, which is good. “groups” of units in AOE3 were pretty cool, but only in AOE3 I think.

After playing AoE:RoR a lot lately, I’ve decided that apart from a few changes to gameplay and UI, the game should remain the same. It’s aged very well and I really enjoy it. I sincerely hope they don’t borrow a bunch of game mechanics from AOE3, or AOE2 for that matter.

Oh, I never liked that game so I didn’t know, but thanks

I’d have to disagree with this idea as it doesn’t sound very original, as it’s not in the first 2 games and this is just anniversary edition.

I think creating units in batches of 5 or more is a give-away of battle strategy. If such function is going to be added then it will just throw of the balance like AOE3, imagine what good would be then to save on cavalry unit of two when suddenly your opponent pops up five from the barracks or stable to counter them.
