Currently unavailable techs should not be able to be pre-queued

  • Game Version: Standard

  • Build Number: Update 18.42553

  • Platform: Steam

  • Operating System: Windows 11

Issue:

This issue was pointed out by IamMagic. As you can see in the video, when I press Shift+B, halo of the sun can be pre-queued in the classical age. And when I press Shift+X, volcanic forge can be pre-queued though I advanced to the classical age through Prometheus, not Leto. I think currently unavailable techs should not be able to be pre-queued, to prevent confusion.

Trigger Event:

Currently unavailable techs are able to be pre-queued.

Repro Steps:

  1. Play as Kronos or Oranos.
  2. Build a barracks.
  3. Select the barracks and press Shift+B in the classical age or in the heroic age.
  4. You can see halo of the sun pre-queued, even though it is a mythic age technology.

I think that this is not a bug, but a feature. I feel that way too. You can pre-queue something in previous ages and have it research as soon as you advance.

The issue with IamMagic is not the pre-queuing of unavailable techs, but hotkey rebinding bugs, which haven’t been resolved for months… He unbound the hotkey, and it still pre-queues the tech. I’ve had such troubles with other hotkeys as well, and there are already multiple bug reports about this, albeit unacknowledged as of yet.

At least, volcanic forge should not be pre-queued when I advanced through Prometheus, not Leto.

Yes! There we can agree

This is clearly a bug, being able to prequeue unavailable techs should be a thing as it’s almost mandatory for a major god like Freyr for instance for the game play is about - among other things - judicious use of the tech queue.

Of course players shouldn’t be able to prequeue divine technologies since contrary to human ones you must always renounce part of them in a game and they are individually more impactful.
