Devs, just nerf ottos already

Between the unbeatable otto rush and otto FI there is no way people playing civs that aren’t meta can take the win. Honestly its just a bloated civ, considering all that they gained in DE.

He’s not wrong really. This civ dictates the game. You follow whatever lead it sets.

If it is so, where do you put China and Sweden? (Asking by looking the winrate data)

Both got substantial nerfs especially china yet both remain with a very high win rate, way higher than any civ should have in a balanced game. These 2 civs are much more of a problem than otto or even italy which is mainly due to it’s fi and a nerf is on the way.

The outlier of those is china, which doesn’t surprise me since they are from asian dynasties.
Otto and Swedes actually share a few things in common such as a better than average musketeer albeit at different stages of the game and a good alternative to the skirmisher although their real bread winner is their respective eco bonus. The torps and free villagers, as with anny powerful and passive bonus are busted since these open up a lot of doors for these civs in terms of strategy due to their solid eco advantage can’t really be punished or delayed.

But this post is about more than that. I’ve played with ottos some more and I have to say that almost any strat i can do with others civs I can do with ottos in a simpler easier way.

Winrate and pick rate are valuable assets but they don’t tell the whole story

Sweden and China are much, much worse to face than Otto.

Ottomans historically hated by many players and played at the same time by many players, for me they can also be eliminated from the game, the developers will save time to balance it further and will not look at future threads like these, also players will save time learning such a civilization and the various match ups and will learn not to swear.

The truth is there are 5-6 civs that are out of proportion strong to the others. Nothing ever seems to be done about it. Often it’s just made worse. I think Otts get a buff on a regular basis.

The game is great but not because you get a balanced playing experience. It’s good enough you don’t mind so much getting stomped on for the chance of a fair game later on.

The fact that the Ottomans have a more durable musketeer than their counterparts or have access to early artillery units is a reflection of its historical character, and this complaint is an unfounded reproach when there are Rush civilizations in the game that are stronger than the Ottomans.

abus gunners 2nd age damage boost card has been removed and ranged damage resistance has been lowered, if you’re still complaining you can’t counterplay that’s your problem.

In the recent otto rework the age 2 artillery card got changed to 20% hp, you now also have an age 3 combat card for +15% attack and HP on all artillery units including abus, in age 4 there’s also another combat card for all infantry that gives them another +15% attack and HP. In comparison ranged resistance was nerfed 5% lol.

damage card moved from 2nd age to 3rd age ottoman was ending the game in 2nd age anyway this is blocked

Considering the popularity of ottoman FF and FI I’d say that isn’t the case.
