Did devs ever fix the population bug?

In 2020-2021 a few players reported a bug, where all of their units were dead but they still took pop cost.

I am still playing the old CD version and able to reproduce this bug there, but I don’t have AOE3 DE, my PC is weak. Anyway here is the repro from the old CD version:

  • There are cards to decrease pop costs of specific units. Choose such a card.
  • Before the card arrives, buy 20 from the specific units. If they take 4 pop, all of them will take 80 pop even after the card arrives.
  • If one of the units die, you get back only the new pop cost, for example 2.
  • It means that they take 40 pop space even after all of them die.

To summarize: cards/techs can’t modify the pop cost of units who are in the training queue when the shipment arrives. It’s a hardcoded legacy bug.

In the original AOE3 I reproduced this bug with the Dance Hall card and outlaw units from Saloon, sorry I didn’t follow the changes of DE.

Did devs ever fix this bug?

No, the game will stay in the same state as it is, they already abandoned the project.
