Maybe it wasn’t used very much in EE which is why they didn’t add it? I know I liked the feature in EE but never ended up using it because I preferred fixed lighting. Plus with so many GPs changing lightning it might get a bit busy?
The day/night cycle was cool, but too many GPs change global illumination. This is their interpretation of the game. Making an eclipse at night is ridiculous and pointless. Plus, we don’t have mechanics tied to the day/night cycle like Warcraft 3, with changes to vision range and the functionality of certain abilities. Overall, the day/night cycle breaks the depiction of GPs and isn’t tied to gameplay mechanics. That’s why it wasn’t added.
Every map has it’s unique lighting in AoMR. If they wanted to make an optional day and night cycle they would have to make 2 new lightnings for day and night for every map.
If we ask for it, they will.
