I was just wondering if someone could tell me if the definitive versions are completely different games, or whether DE:2 is just an improved version of DE.

De is for the original age of empires + rise of Rome expansion
De 2 is for age of empires 2 + all its xpacs

I just wanted to check, because I didn’t want to buy both if in affect they were the same game
They are two different games. The first is about ancient history and gameplay wise is very simple, where Age 2 DE is about middle ages, and is more complex, in that it has more features than in its prequel. In both games, the fiction/fantasy factor is there too. You’ll get what I mean once you play both games
