Direct Request to Developers: Please Have Open Betas

I just wanted to put a request to developers: please go back to having open betas. Although I love the surprise of discovering a new civ on launch, sometimes those surprises are followed with disappointment. It would be much better if you opened the game up for testing and feedback a few months before launch (even for a short period) just so people and try things out and give meaningful feedback on changes as a community. In addition, letting people (like streamers) try out features ahead of time would create even more publicity and interest in the game (which is good for everyone).

I agree it would be nice to have a way to directly contribute feedback. So maybe we can get ahead of any major changes or bugs. The only problem is that if they go this route they will have most likely have a limited time window for the beta. So if they can’t fix it within the time it needs to release people will be even more upset. I’m not sure how many people are still working on AOM internally. I assume less then it had for the first two DLCs. I think the biggest indicator for me will be when the Aztecs release. If it’s unpolished or well thought out like the previous 2 civs.
