The official ageofempires.com website says “Unlike the Bombard, the Cannon does not need to pack and unpack.” In-game, there does seem to be an animation for packing and unpacking however. Is it just faster than the Bombards? Was it changed at some point? I know this seems like such a tiny detail, but I think making it clear would help people understand one of French’s unique units more and why it exists.

I think bombard back in the early days was intended to pack and umpack slower than what it does now. French canons are still sligjtly more mobile though and have a slightly faster movement speed as well, they also do more damage but have less hp than the bombard.
