I personally don’t really like the new DLC, since on the one hand I am not particulary a fan of the new game added into aoe2(same with return of rome) but I can look past that.
What really really bothers me is that we havent gotten a new base game Civ for the game in one year and with the new Civ selection new ones would fit in perfectly without ruining the pattern.
I just wanted to know if all of you agree of disagree
Yes👍 I would prefer new Civs over the new campaign
No👎 I like the new Campaign more than getting new Civs
Absolutely think there’s plenty of room and material for new base AoE2 civs, and hopefully this will be a focus of the next DLC. There was one of many large discussions about new civs after DOI, and my thoughts at the time were that there was still room for 10-16 new civs without scraping the bottle of the barrel of relevant historical empires or resorting to extreme gimmickry with regard to bonuses. Since then (2.5 years ago) we’ve only had Romans and the two Caucasian civs.
FWIW this was brought up in the GL Podcast with SoTL and Viper starting at 24:25 who both agreed that more civs would be desirable. tl;dr is that it keeps things fresh and that they’d impose only a small cognitive burden on players relative to the number of existing civs (and given that they remain relatively symmetrical).
as sad it is to say that younger gen with much lower attention span would require these kind of update to keep them interested in this super old genre of a game
hate the mod constantly breaks because of new civs but also like the new civs for more variety
I don’t like the poll, because I want both lol. Especially since Capture Age is doing Chronicles and FE is doing new civs, both is certainly an option and is my preference personally. I just like having more civilizations in the world represented, but I really like the direction that Chronicles takes as well.
I do not care about campaigns, but adding them doesn’t make the game worse, as they can be safely ignored. That does not hold for adding civs, adding more and more makes the game less fun to play. We have far too many already.
We have far too many European civs. Almost half of the game is European civs. I want more American and African civs. Asian ones could be cool as well, but the only other European ones I’d want are Romanians and maybe a rework of the Celts (or at least a reskin of the Woad Raider who doesn’t belong in the game at all imo)
They already confirmed that they are working on “normal” AoE2DE DLCs, so what is this thread for?
Who would vote no?
Also every DLC so fart hat campaigns in it so your survey makes even less sense. The question is not “Single Player only vs. Multiplayer only DLC” because Multiplayer only was never an option.
I mean even without a campaign those civs are still available in skirmish and user made content.
It is so sad that V&V had 0 new assets, not even decorative stuff.
BFG is the opposite of that. So many new Scenario Editor exclusive units, buildings, heroes and decorative objects.
Maybe the Immortal is a test run for how well that works on a foot soldier.
I agree with the criticisme I would also like if we got both but the Poll was more just to see what people actually prefer since I was a bit unsure. But I agree i could have worded it better
I think all editions should have a pool of extra civs and most of one of the campaigns on a random.
The more exp. and DLCs you’ve already bought, the fewer “bonus”.
This would be changed and a mandatory update every month for all released every… say Friday at 2 PM UTC.
To avoid residual files being misused as a mod, full campaigns and all civs from all will never be released. They may be downloaded and stay as old files, because devs forgot/don’t want to delete them and can be “activated” once they have a purpose, but one will still need access to full Exp and DLCs to get the last civs and campaigns.
The issue lies with those DLCs with only one new civ…
Both are good. However, it’s better that no matter civs or campaigns DLCs, I want the good quality.
Recent DLCs like the Mountain Royal disappointed me in some ways: Persian’s architecture and Reuse architecture. V&V was a mixed feeling for me to buy or not because of the content for SP. ROR is good, but it’s too barebone that I feel it’s still 50% full game.
I would love to see new architecture sets and correcting existing nations’ architectures.
