Does the game favor certain positions for some civilizations?

I’ve noticed that English players always start team matches in the middle of the team and never on the wings.

I wonder if this choice is random or if they favor certain civilizations?

And the worst part is that having English players on the team in the least friction positions is terrible because most of them are AFK or simply noobs playing.

I don’t believe so. I’ve seen English on the wings before especially since it’s such a popular civ and I’ve played 4v4 with multiple English on it. On some maps where we are in a line towards the enemy it does not prioritize the more defensive focus civ (kt or tughlaq who have forts) towards the front for defensive purposes

I don’t know, but some members of my clan also mentioned that this was happening.

Maybe it’s a bug.

A few seasons ago, player positions were determined by their assigned spot in the lobby before the match started. However, I don’t remember which season it changed, but now you can get a random statistic to determine your position.
