You can make the selection boxes, you’d usually only see in the editor visible for Skirmish as well.

Here’s the steps to reproduce the issue:

  1. Go to the editor
  2. Place some units
  3. Press CTRL+A until the selection boxes (=the white borders around units and objects) appear
  4. Test the scenario (you will notice that the selection boxes are already visible)
  5. Go back to the main menu and start a Single Player skirmish
  6. The selection boxes remain visible
