They can camp waiting for the upgrade too. Nothing really changes.
By camp i meant you will take relics faster than all others. Fair enough i should have been more explicit.
Priest would just grab relics at a faster rate than any other pantheon with what you suggest.
Are they more cost effective than human units? Personally doesnt seem to be the case. Otherwise its a matter of its the only hero unit they have, and devs learned from OG norse design how easy to shut down they could be if X or Y werent in place
In my view, they are cost-effective as basic general-purpose units because they possess the âHeroâ tag but lack the âInfantryâ tag found on units like the Hersir or Goði; consequently, they are less susceptible to counter-units. They cost 10 more than a Hoplite and have comparable base damage (7 priest, 8 hoplite) , yet they enjoy immunity to many god powers and special attacks from myth unitsâa factor not to be underestimated. They are highly effective against myth units (fitting, given they are heroes), can build structures, feature a ranged attack against flying units, and train quickly. Of course, an Ocelotl Warrior is superior, but it comes at a different price point.
Norse heroes, by contrast, do carry the âInfantryâ tag, making them vulnerable to specific counters; they cost more and deal less damage to myth units. However, I consider them balanced, as their damage output isnât high enough to make them true all-around units. They are solid but not exceptionalâa Berserker is better.
i was more refering to the dynamic they would still not beat any generalist army. They lose to berserk, hoplite, murmillo. dao, etc etc. Same for hippeus, naginata rider and so on. So just making warrior priest into a human army isnt gonna result well unless as you mention they are purely hard counter units.
Less health, less hack armor, its not only dps that matters, and the gap widens when you conssider line upgrades
Yea being pure hero has its advantages. Not many GPs heroes are inmune to thou, most match ups dont even have them.
Well they do need the attack vs flying myth units. Otherwise you have Norse OG issues and devs learned from those. Specially in Retold where flying units are much more prevalent. That said their range attack is quite slow imo and any MU can dodge it if you micro it.
The spearman is also superior, at a cheaper price point when you account for cost effectiveness.
You are describing the same scenario to warrior priest. Hersir have a tag but they have better stats, also build, train fast, give favor passively and while on active combat (so their damage output matters in the economy) and are still inferior to the generalist units.
Also keeping in mind aztecs dont have cav units in classic age unlike norse. If warrior priest were infantry then any anti infantry comp would shut down almost all unit comps
I always love your replies! They are always packed with data and details that allow for a real comparison, rather than just empty talk. Personally, I think that the warrior priest is very strong and could use some tweaking. That said, itâs certainly easy to counter.
