:play_button: ISSUE EXPERIENCED

In the first El Cid scenario, Brother against Brother (https://ageofempires.fandom.com/wiki/Brother_against_Brother), there is a neutral monastery with six Gaia monks in the west corner of the map. As soon as the player reaches the area, the monks join his side.

The bug/issue is purely visual: the monks are ‘Muslim’, and remain so after they join the player’s team, i.e. they do not automatically convert to ‘Catholic’ monks. However, as soon as one of them picks up a relic, he becomes a ‘Catholic’ monk. Healing friendly units does not change their model; I am not certain whether converting enemy units would do so.

:play_button: REPRODUCTION STEPS

Here’s the steps to reproduce the issue:

  1. Start Brother against Brother (El Cid scenario 1).
  2. Go to the left/west corner of the map, where there is a Gaia monastery with six monks.
  3. The monks join your team but remain ‘Muslim’.
  4. Select a monk, pick a relic, he becomes ‘Catholic’.

:play_button: EXPECTED RESULT

I think all the monks should automatically become Catholic. Conversely, they should be Catholic to begin with.

Guess the gaia player is set to saracens.

After this patch, there are quite a few campaign scenarios which have the wrong monk types for Gaia player. Ivaylo 5, Prithviraj 3, Devapala 3 are also other examples that I’ve noticed so far. I hope the devs notice this and review all existing campaign scenarios to fix these inconsistencies.

Not only the monks then, also the architecture of the monastery
