ELO Abuse Prevention

The current ELO system has some flaws that players can abuse to make their ELOs inflated, it does not reflect the actual player skill level.

  1. Point Sit: Players only need to play once every two weeks to maintain their rank position. Some players match against low-ELO player on purpose to maintain their ELOs. This is called “point sit”.
  2. Gaining ELO with low-ELO teammates: Some players are using their low-ELO accounts to gain ELO in team games. This way, they can still gain ELO even though the opponents are low-ELO. There are a lot of players who are doing this, we can easily check the top players on the leaderboard and confirm.

----------------------------------------
Possible Fixes:

  1. ELO can be reset every 3 months (season). Every season can have its own badge, trophy or medal. It prevents long-term point sit and encourages players to play more ranked games.
  2. In ranked team games, the ELO gain or loss should be calculated using the highest ELO player in each team. This prevents the ELO abuse with low-ELO teammates.

These are just my suggestions. Any advice is welcome.
