Enemy Building Foundations Cannot be Destroyed

If an enemy player places the foundation of a building but not yet started building it, the foundation is unable to be attacked. Units tasked to attack the foundation will simply move to it and ignore it as if it was a neutral object. This includes buildings constructed by wagons (forts, factory, etc) and buildings on trade posts, making then unable to be captured.

Once the other player has started construction then the foundation can be destroyed normally.

Tested only on single player

Here’s the steps to reproduce the issue:

  1. Wait for an enemy player to place a building foundation
  2. Task a unit to attack the foundation before construction starts

The foundation should be attacked by the unit tasked to attack it, allowing the foundation to be destroyed

This has been since day 1, reason I dont research spies if not for last unit

I’ve always been able to attack and destroy enemy building foundations even if they hadn’t started building, it was only since the last update that I can’t attack the foundation

The simple reason is that the building just does not exist until construction has commenced. Although you see the planned foundations through spies or cheats (devasd) the building hasnt actually started and is still only a plan or an idea.
Otherwise players would just spam lines of walls everywhere so that enemy units will attack towards them instead of other units. This would be a 1000% worse

Unfortunately the foundations do interfere at times, even if they haven’t commenced. I’m not saying that units should auto attack uncommenced foundations, obviously that would be silly.

However, in previous builds I was able to manually task units to attack a foundation that hadn’t been started and they’d actually do it. Now they don’t attack it at all.
