Ensemble Studios existed

Such good times, RIP, though a subsidiary could never last forever, 343 is a part of Microsoft in a way they will never be free and independent again. My guess is Bungie got out while they still could otherwise they would end up like ES or FS.

They existed, then they were dismantled by Microsoft (apparently due to high costs).

A shame really. If they had not been dismantled, we would have had Age of Empires IV or Age of Mythology II ages ago. Pun intended.

Rick Goodman is still alive! lol

Here’s the interview with Bruce Shelley, Tony Goodman and him as broadcast during the Age of Empires live stream at Gamescom yesterday:

Technically it is still happening, AoE 4 is happening, though not sure how Relic can do AoE 4, and AoM 2 since a they dont have the source code or the fact that SEGA could go bust at any time and shut them down…

Frankly, I have less confidence in Relic as a result of their recent games. Ensemble, on the other hand, never had a dud.

just Like Aces studios (of Flight sim fame)

I wonder if the Art of the Wololo extends out from the Age of Empires universe into the realm of the Corporate and the Franchise. It’s hard to believe how such good studios could even get under the threat of closure

You either die a good studio, or live long enough to see yourself… well, die

RIP Ensemble Studios: 1995-2009 :’( :’( :frowning: :frowning:
