PUP states The Mercenary Contractor (Politician, IV → V): Now increases the attack and hitpoints of Outlaws by 50%, as expected.

but Folk Heroes tech also provide +50% shadow tech when you reach imp so euro outlaws get total of 150% stats

Here’s the steps to reproduce the issue:

  1. age up with merc contractor
  2. research folk heroes
    3.see stat change

Have only one 50% stat boost

You’ll see this was an intended fix in the PUP notes:

  • The Mercenary Contractor (Politician, IV → V): Now increases the attack and hitpoints of Outlaws by 50%, as expected.

I will ask for a confirmation on that from the devs cause 1pop outlaws that get 150% total stats will break the game

The merc contractor change maybe intended, but folk heroes still having 50% shadow tech might not be

If you change the other shadowtech you are ruining outlaws for all non-european civs. This is a terrible idea.

you do know that folk heroes is an euro only tech right? The other civs are not affected by it and they are not connected to each other

Coffeeco01 has a good point, Folk Heroes getting specially nerfed could work because the other civs get Wild West, Compunction, and Nomadic Bandits instead.

If it’s exclusive to folk heroes and not folk hero-type cards then no problem. Although I would suggest to wait and see if it is as OP as you suggest. Most people don’t use european outlaws, even less in the lategame and you are limited to produce them from one building.

If it goes live and after a couple of months nothing really happens, I think that the option should be extended to other non-european civs as well even.

it doesnt take much for you to see the numbers with your own eyes

this makes the desert outlaws into monster units at 1 pop - the archer has 53 attack at 3 rof, higher then basically any archer in the entire game already and then 31 attack at 1.5 rof, effectively 62 dps, basically higher then any light infantry in the game

the warrior has 74 dps, we are getting into pre-de ashigaru with 80 attack territory here, and that still required the daimyo

the corsair marksman has higher stats then even the ranger, a unit that is so hard to get you need 3 cards and a card to unlock those cards

and to top it all off, they insta-train after dueling school because folk heroes also reduces train time

and who can forget this game-breaker now with 80atk at 2 pop

They make imperial mercs look tame

also remember that italy has 5 lombards and 3 taverns that they can train this from, germany has mercenary camps as well now
