I know there is a much-needed African expansion coming that I’m assuming will include new maps and natives. But since we have Sweden, and people are clamoring for Austria, Poland, and other Euro civs, wouldn’t it make sense to add some European maps? Like at least Finland, Karelia, Straight of Gibraltar, the Balkans etc., at least places that were historically fought over in Europe.
It’s just funny that you can revolt as Finland, Hungary, Romania and other European nations but not actually play on any maps that are set in Europe
I was about to write a post on this with the exact same title XD.
Maps:
Black Forest (classic!)
Alps
Alpine Pass
British Isles
Baltic Sea
Rhine
Flanders
Scandinavia
Finland
Mediterranean
Gibraltar
Some of them were already in NE so they should not be very difficult.
As for natives, going for American-level resolution may be too much and not the practice since TAD. As they go for more universally applicable natives not ones that are limited to one or two maps (like Klamath), I’d consider using “mercenary camps” as European natives because (1) they can appear outside their home region (2) they have good synchronization with the existing mercenaries (3) they can “overlap” with the existing civs
Balkan mercenary camp
Unit: Klepht (skirmisher)
Has a tech that sends Stradiots
Swiss mercenary camp
Unit: Reislaufer (halberdier)
Has a tech that sends Swiss pikemen.
Scottish mercenary camp
Unit: Clansman (melee)
Has a tech that sends Highlanders.
German mercenary camp
Unit: Freikorps (skirmisher)
Has a tech that sends Landsknechts and Black Riders.
Italian mercenary camp
Unit: Pavisier (crossbowman)
Has a tech that sends Elmeti.
personally i feel like scandinavia probably should be multiple different maps, like there are significant differences between norway, jutland and sweden.
They’re never going to make “Natives” that are only good for one or two maps. They would all have to be something generic enough to fit most European maps. Something like the following:
Some of these regions were however part of other countries during that time, hence they can’t be playable civs on their own. Or do you mean npc natives?

New Royal Houses (European Minor Nations):
I think that with the next European DLCs, the number of European maps and Royal Houses should increase so that Europe would be covered in such a way that everyone would be satisfied. Potential new Royal Houses for European Maps:
House of Ascania - Anhalt, Saxony, Brandenburg, Saxony-Lauenburg, Lüneburg
House of Nassau - Netherlands, England, Scotland, Luxembourg, Orania, Nassau
House of Luxembourg - Holy Roman Empire, Austria, Bohemia, Hungary, Croatia, France, Luxembourg
House of Rurik - Ruthenia, Russia
House of Romanov - Russian Empire
House of Stuart - Scotland, England, Ireland, Great Britain
House of Medici - Italy
House of Savoy - Italy, Spain
House of Ottoman - Ottoman Empire (more focused on the European part of the Ottoman Empire)
With these 9 brand new Royal Houses, Europe would become Minor Nations complete.
