Explain to me how this is fair?

I went against a Zeus player that kept spamming Toxotes and in response I kept spamming Hippeus to counteract them as according to their ingame despriction: “Cavalry. Good against ranged soldiers and siege engines.” Except despite having as much Hippeus as he did Toxotes, my army completly melted and was only able to kill at least no more then 5-10 Toxotes in excgange of my entire army. After that they easily surroned me and I had no other option then to forfeit despite my best efforts. Not to mention my opponent kept spamming profanities and taunts towards me in the ingame chat the entire time and I wish I got screenshots of them. Like what are you supposed to do in this situation when the supposed counters can’t even do their job correctly?

Archer balls are (annoyingly) strong even against the melee counter units because any unit approaching the archer ball takes a lot of damage on the approach.

In that situation the correct response would be to start by getting a full pop army of peltasts and Chiron. Then during the fight you have to constantly make sure that Chiron is only firing on manticore, and that the peltasts are only firing on toxotes (and not firing on manticore or petrobolos). You’ll have to keep rebuilding Chiron and keep training peltasts during the fight, and keep microing Chiron onto manticore and keep microing peltasts onto toxotes. Even 2TC full pop peltasts+chiron will beat 4TC full pop toxotes+manticore, as long as you are constantly microing your units during the fight and constantly rebuilding Chiron and peltasts.

Adding to what was said. As Hades you have the better peltast in the greek mirror, due to longer range, so you can Hit them before they Hit you. Also free ballistics (which makes it so you dont miss arrows) which also makes it better to counter archers with peltast instead of Hippeus.

Archers get to a point when the mass is big enough its hard to stop with melee units, you would need either aoe damage, or kind of surround them completely, which is Hard to do vs an opponent thats wary and moves them

Im so glad that I’m not the only one who thinks this, Do you think this needs a nerf?

In team games sometimes it is impossible to stop a guy from booming and reaching this ball. (I don’t play 1v1s just wanna know if they are also as annoying as they seem to me to be)

I don’t think it needs a nerf. My guess is that for any situation involving an archer-ball, it’s either a situation in which there’s a valid counter play, or it’s a situation in which there is no valid counter play but the player with the archer-ball was already in a game-winning position (so the archer-ball itself isn’t the reason the player is in a game-winning position).

We’re missing context, if the opponent has 4 tc’s vs 1 you can make as many of the counter unit as you want, but you’ll still get outmassed. I do not believe an equal amount of hippeus would lose unless you trickle them in.

by the photo, 7 manticoresis a lot, you would need use 3 heroes, peltast because manticores can easily kill horses and toxotes can easily kill heroes, so once heroes are dead you have nothing, but if you have peltast attacking the archers you will win, but still your heroes must respawn quickly, also you always must bring mythologic creatures to the battle and protect them from heroes, because mythologic kill everything except heroes. So 50 hippeus vs 7 manticores i think manticores win, but 2 heroes can easily wipe those 7 manticores if they are not killed by human army.

Unfortunately zeus get favor 20% faster so with Hades you will need a fortress very near to the battle to respawn heroes quickly. Hades can spawn centinels (god power) in the fortress so you can easily defend if you destroy siege army

you have 2000 wood not spent, try to build about 7 archerys so you can spam the counter PELTAST, unfortunately descriptions in aoe retold mythology are extremely bad. Install iu ADVANCED TOOTIP MOD, so you can get more information
