The game already shows that but the message is easy to miss.
No that would break the game. It would completely devalue Settlements.
Village Centres are already too good in my opinion, making them cheaper would mean that they have a clear advantage over Town Centres to the point that it might even be a valid option to build a Village Centre instead of a Town Centre despite controlling a Settlement.
It shows it when the opponent finish upgrading it but no when it start upgrading or is in progress.
It is important so we can prepare the defenses vs a centaur or a ragnarok or whatever.
Settlements already have lower hp, train villager slowers and don’t provide pop cap. They are a “cheap” versions of town centers and therefor should be cheaper.
Yes because you are not supposed to see what the enemy is planing to do in the future.
It would ruin a lot of strategies if your opponent could read them long in advance.
The main reason you build Town Centres before the late game is to train additional villagers.
You get 75% of the villager training capacity with Village Centres, so if they were just 25% cheaper then it would already be equal in price performance to a Town Centre.
Then Town Centres would be degraded to just be a glorified Fortress plus house, they would only really become relevant in the late game when you need more pop cap.
This game is not Age of Empires and Village Centres are a big compromise already.
