Hello everyone.
Just a small concern coming from a semi‑casual player. For what it’s worth, I personally do not like the villager train time being reduced. I want to enjoy ranked play, but the current pace is simply too fast for me. It makes it harder to appreciate the different phases of the game, and it turns the early and mid‑game into a constant struggle to micro‑manage villagers rather than think about strategy.
For context: it takes about 22 minutes of continuous production to reach 80 villagers (ignoring age‑up time). With two‑TC strategies it’s even faster. This extremely rapid economic scaling heavily favors players who already know AoM inside out. For newer or semi‑casual players, it creates a steep barrier to entry and may actually hurt long‑term accessibility.
What would slower villager production achieve?
-
It would give more time for meaningful battles in each age.
-
It would make fights more enjoyable to watch and micro.
-
It would allow more techs and strategies to matter instead of being skipped due to tiny timing windows.
-
It would reduce the pressure to be constantly proactive and mechanically perfect.
-
It would make villager losses and mistakes more meaningful, which adds strategic depth.
A 17‑second villager train time sounds harmless in isolation, but when you scale it across an entire game, it creates a meta that rewards relentless mechanical execution over strategic planning. It favors speed over creativity and execution over adaptation.
This is just my personal opinion, but I hope that when arguments for faster villager production come up in the future, the developers also consider how players like me experience the game. I genuinely enjoy AoM, but the current pace makes me feel stressed rather than engaged.
Thank you for reading.

Wouldnt it work both ways?
If you make macro slow and easy going you put more preassure in how much micro matters, trying to do more with few units, which would not favor newer players.
You also suffer more from villager losses to raids and take more time to get back up the more they take to train.
Currently, Age 2 is absent in AoM and skips through the same process as Age 3. I don’t like this.

I can see how this can be the pov depending on what you play. Some gods and match ups def play a lot on the classic age others do play for heroic onwards.
That said, the Last time vill train times was increased (i know this time it was decreased) we got more fast heroics and age skips, not drawned out classic fights.

Although that we all do support that this game needs to be more noob friendly, There are way more factors implying how economy works in this game other than “ villager train time”.
I think villager time right now is fine. 15 seconds was kind of overwhelming for me, And although im not a good player, Im a very fast player. making it more slower would make the game at even slightly higher levels a slugfest. No one will stay noob forever eventually they will get better at the game. It wouldn’t be right to sacrifice the joy of the game at higher levels inorder to make the game easier for newer players.
besides that if it is fast it is fast for every one.
But this definetly is a matter of taste also.
Actually some new players say that losing villagers in AoM is super punishing and they find defending against raids incredibly difficult. I also think that tbh.
Tbh i never quite understood why they messed with the villagers training time in the first place. Unless someone really likes poseidon/odin cav raids, there was no reason to do the nerf if the first and it had many balance implications, many of which will now return and bite back, now that it was reverted.
In fact, they should be reverting a lot of stuff, including building hack armor buff, towers rework, tc range etc.
