Final regards concerning AoE3DE

It’s okay if support is fully taken out. There’s little player-base support as there is, no need to keep wasting money on it. Hopefully they will divert whatever funds that were going toward it to AoE2 or AoE5 instead. AoE3, its gameplay, audio, and mechanics were always pretty lackluster for an AoE title, imo

The irritating thing is adding Denmark would have mean the last missing colonial power of the era AOE3 represents. Poles being the last significant european power after denmark is added.

Then adding inuits as a minor civ would fit in with the Danes (greenland and all) and also fill in a gap effectively ‘completing’ the minor american civs.

So AOE3 DE is like 97% complete…Do you know how annoying it is to wait so long for something only for it to be only 97% done?

You do realize that AOE3 is missing a lot in terms of civs? Nothing for South East Asia, Oceania, Central & South Africa, Central Asia etc. Not to mention all the First Nations they could have added on top of that? AOE3:DE would have still been far from complete even after the release of the Baltic DLC .

Even in terms of colonial powers Persia and Oman would have been missing. Not to forget the broad strokes approach for the Americas and Africa with their great powers.

It’s just that big game companies usually ignore intentionally most of the world’s history in favor of what they think will be best for their business.

This turned out really well for AOE3:DE like you can see…

I agree with most of your comment, but I don’t think that would have mattered in the end. If the last DLC had been a Middle Eastern DLC instead of Knights of the Mediterranean the fate of the game would have been the exact same.

But yes, we will not have a lot of cool units, buildings, mechanics and from other parts of the world that will never be covered. I hoped that after the Baltic DLC there would have been more Asian content (which has not been touched since 2007). But the only thing we got was a slap in the face after years of lies and mistreatment by World’s Edge.

And sadly Wars of Liberty also isn’t an option for me anymore with the removal of Aztecs out of the blue.

I’m just sad for the AOE3 community as a whole. I do think though that they should have put more effort in the game as a whole and maybe have let more modders from the AOE3 community, people who really care about AOE3, work on the DE.

Now there’s nowhere for me to play AOE3 where I can look forward to new civs with new architecture sets from exciting new cultural backgrounds

Definitely feels like they hated so much about this game. The Colonial era, the way settlers interacted with indians. They never talk about this game, and really just wish it had never been made.

I guess mods, I hope that they at least will have the decency of releasing all the moding tools for the game. But who am I kidding, I wouldn’t even be surprised if World’s Edge takes the servers down on the 20th anniversary of the game.

Nah, they’d probably wait until the big 25th to do that. Or maybe right before, they did cut ESO a year before it turned 20.

You forgot the Eastern side of the world; Persians, Siamese, Vietnamese, Koreans, Omanis, etc.

Not as active during that period, they existed aoe3 was originally about imperialism and the age of discovery, also Asian civs are all poorly done with racial stereotypes.

The base game vanilla, with just the eruooesn civs is still vastly more balanced and fun to play than any other version of age of empires 3.

Definitive edition went overdrive on the thing that made the Asian dynasries bad, even more absurdly broken unit stats and further straying from balanced unit core with similar stats

Good bye to this version, you won’t be missed by me, I went back to vanilla

I think that the Warchiefs are a better version.

Persians and Omanis not as active? Lol.

It’s been six months… I have come to terms with AoE3DE’s support officially ending, but I still keep checking this forum from time-to-time for some reason… Another day I had a cool idea about a possible DLC idea for AoE3, then I got bummed out remembering that it won’t ever happen. Damn.

They hadn’t even made a proper explanation or apology and for six months all they did was pretending it never happened. Image what kind of people are handling the series.

Six months later and I’d still like a bug patch with a few minor balance fixes…

Not even a single hint of remorse or update since then.

Truly, truly, truly despicable at every single angle.

Bugfixing is just too expensive for them. Poor WE. They need to feed themselves by porting mobile to PC.

Is just not going to happen
We should have resignation and grief

I’m still annoyed, but there’s nothing to be done unless W.E. have a change of mind (very much unlikely).

I think mods are the only way to generate new content for us now.
