Freyr not currently available as a standalone purchase

I read elsewhere that Freyr was not available for standalone purchase anymore.

Why is this? If someone bought the base version of the game, they should be able to buy Freyr without purchasing the premium version of the game.

Maybe it’s because there are other new gods coming that will be made available as a part of a larger DLC?

You read wrong. Freyr was NEVER available for standalone purchase. He was always included in the Premium edition. Yes, there is hope he’ll be available at some point, but there’s been no news whatsoever on whether or when that will happen.
