I started playing the Gajah mada campaign recently in moderate difficulty. The first scenario featured a mongol player that was very aggressive and seemed to have infinite gold, I killed probably a thousand mangudai. I realized that the mongols resign after losing their town center. I am now playing the second scenario and I managed to get to the king on time, now I am trying to increase my troop numbers before attempting to escort him to safety, but there seems to be an endless stream of troops attacking my base to the point where my population stays pretty much the same at about 120 or 130. I have researched all the useful technologies in the university, but against those numbers it is just a matter of time before I lose. Why are these scenarios designed like this? I donât think a player choosing moderate difficulty is getting a fair chance, mostly due to the overly aggressive computer that never runs out of resources. Am I missing something here? is this the game? is that the idea behind these campaigns? to pummel the player relentlessly? If that is so well then please let me know by confirming that the computer has infinite resources and soldiers so I donât waste anymore time on this poorly designed game.
NOTE: I have played some very good campaigns like The Hautevilles and Algirdas and Kestutis so I do know for a fact that it is possible to play well designed, well balanced campaigns in this game.
Iâve also had a lot of difficulty with Gajah Mada 2 on moderate. Bari 2 is also a nightmare on moderate.
More vills to have resources to more troops. Like, the max pop is 150, you had 120-130, so you could get at least 10 more vills to farms and spam more 2h-trashswordmen.
Did you destroy the cyanâs bases on the right, middle and left of the map? Itâll help you have more room to breath while you focus on destroying orange and blue. Kill their army with eles+2h-trashswordmen and destroy onager and buildings with bombard cannons. I played this map on hard one or two hours ago, that was my strategy. Just take care to not have your king killed.
Ps: I invaded by the left side, so purple would help me to cripple cyan a bit, delaying its imperial age considerably comparing to attacking through the middle.
I played through the campaign a while back on the âHardâ difficulty setting, and rather than building up a huge army before you set off, Iâd recommend taking it step by step.
The map is quite large and your base is too far away, so youâll have to keep rebuilding your archery ranges in particular.
PS. Furthermore, with a maximum population of 150, and given that the Malaysâ units are relatively cheap, I wouldnât go for more than 90 villagers.
Oh, you think Gajah Mada 2 is impossible? Wait until you get to 5. Itâs the only regular campaign I couldnât complete on Moderate. Good luck.
Yes, in general Gajah Mada (and Rise of the Rajas campaigns in general) is a rather annoying campaign because youâre always at a disadvantage due to the limited land you haveâŠ
Gajah Mada is a nightmare even on the lowest difficulty, especially the last scenario. Saladin is the same thing, in fact.
Yes, I couldnât beat Saladinâs last level on standard difficulty (although it was because I wanted to get the achievement for defeating everyone, but Iâll probably just use the wonder and last 15 minutes)âŠ
That campaign is classed moderate, so of course there is some scenarios challenging
Itâs been a while since I played Gajah Mada, but after looking at the map, it looks like you want to go for a fast boom at the start; try to put off attacking the main city as long as you can. You can use your initial military to take out the two small light-blue camps at the front of the city if you have the time but focus on getting your economy up quick. Then if you can, build a castle or wall to the left to defend against the enemy coming from there. At least, thatâs how I did it on hard a while back. That one was a hard, long, grindy fight, so good luck with it.
Hello! Thanks for the replies! I managed to wait until cyan relented and attacked his base to the north, thus opening a path to escort the king to safety. Took me about 6 hours total.
Great you managed to beat it, even though it took you some hours. If you need help with the other maps, keep asking. Some videos of you playing would help too in this case ![]()
I think my strats for beating the mission on hard and the achievement is to rush imperial while also build a castle on the right side of the pond between the 2 gaia group to help defense. You should also try to breach the wall anywhere quickly as purple keeps sending reinforcement that can help distract enemy if there is hole in their walls.
The elephant reinfocement is used to clear the 2 cyan base, and once you reach imperial train at least 1 trebs to snipe bombard tower, since your economy is focused on rushing imperial, you already got food and gold worker to build battle elephant army. Your focus inside the wall is just to touch the yellow and get the king to escape the city, then you can take your time to play the rest of the mission.
Yes, that mission is a bit of a pain at first, but after you get rid of the king, itâs much calmerâŠ
Yes, getting the king and sweeping through enemy bases on the left⊠the first part is complicated, the rest is easier since itâs just spamming elephants like crazyâŠ
I tried, but it took so long for me to reach that cyan base that the king died when I wasnât looking
I told Purple to attack the left gate and went together with my army. All but Gajah died on the first try, but then he ran back to my TC (placed between berries and gold), I garrisoned him with my villagers and all the surviving units died to its arrows. Once that Cyan army is killed Purple can clean the base with its second wave of army.
You can order purple to attack?!
105 (left), 106 (middle) and 107 (right), its on the hints section. 11
âThere are three different gates close by that can get you into the city. Each of them can lead to a different path to reach the King, some are easier than the others. Arya Tadah will help you breach the gates, direct him by using taunts. Chat â105â to tell him to attack the western most gate, â106â to attack the middle gate, and â107â to attack the eastern most gate.â
