Whenever I try to start the game, it crashes after the loading screen

Found the issue. Installed Visual Studio and used debugger on the dump file to get that audiodevprops2.dll was the reason and asus motherboards have sonic studio 3 installed by default which is the root cause for this issue. Please uninstall that and it should work. I recommend to improve error logging so that identifying such issues becomes very easy. I hope this helps anyone else facing such issues.

Did you do it with the minidump in User\Games\Age of Empires 2 DE\logs?
What is the error/exception code of the dump?
Can post a screenshot how the debugger looks like?

If I crash, it’s because of an 0xC0000005 “The thread tried to read from or write to a virtual address for which it does not have the appropriate access.”, but I can’t debug it.
