The game will crash when trying to play a single-player/multiplayer game. One thing I noticed is whenever this happens, my player name simply shows up as “player” rather than my steam name.

:arrow_forward: REPRODUCTION STEPS

Here’s the steps to reproduce the issue:

  1. Start a random single-player/multiplayer game.
  2. Your player name shows up as “player” rather than your own player name.
  3. The game then crashes.

:arrow_forward: EXPECTED RESULT

The game will run normally if your name shows up properly, but unfortunately I can’t get my steam name to show up after numerous attempts at fixing it, including verifying game integrity, disabling all mods, rebooting my PC, none of those worked. I also noticed that my steam name wasn’t showing up and instead there was simply a “player” in my player name.

I’ve disabled all mods, and checked game integrity before launching the game. Also, notice that it shows “player” rather than my actual steam name on my player name, so I’m not sure if this is some connection issue or something else. I will resort to reinstalling if this is something beyond fixing, but I would like to know what’s the cause of it.

No recordings were available since the game refuses to let me play.

Another thing I noticed is this happened after the newest update on windows 11 on my computer (KB5040527), I do not think that update itself can brick the game but just in case.

Edit: Alright, so even a reinstall doesn’t solve the problem for me. I’m really clueless now.

In the video, you are showing the crash that happens when you are trying to play a skirmish in the map ZN@Hiperrandom. Could you tell me if the issue happens in normal maps such as Arabia or black forest?

The game just freezes when I try to change the map. It’s not completely unresponsive and there was no prompt telling me that the game was not responding, but I could not do anything and could only kill the process with task manager, ,and upon doing so, the map will go back to hyperrandom on the next startup and thus creating a cycle.

Tried tweaking some game settings to make the game choose Coastal for me, but the issue is still the same. The game still crashes when loading. Campaigns and scenario editor can be played without issues, however.

Also, some of the crash logs mentioned something like this:

I checked the Xbox status page and it did show that some Xbox services were down, don’t know if this also contributes to my issue.

Edit: Logging off my Xbox account does not solve the issue either.
