The game does not launch without internet connection.

  • 100% of the time / matches I play (ALWAYS)

Here’s the steps to reproduce the issue:

  1. Exit Steam if Steam is open
  2. Disable internet
  3. Open Steam
  4. Try to launch AoE2:DE

:arrow_forward: EXPECTED RESULT

:point_down: What was SUPPOSED to happen if the bug you encountered were not present?
The game should be launchable (for eg. singleplayer, editor, or recorded game watching functions) even if the user has no internet access at the moment.

:point_down: ALWAYS attach a PICTURE (.jpg, .png, .gif) or VIDEO (.mp4, YouTube link) that highlights the problem.

steam stealing focus on game launch and steam start up too fml

Any plans to start tracking this issue?

Bug still in effect as of February 7th 2025 (Version 101.103.2359.0 (#133431) 17001014)

Reproduction steps:

  1. Disconnect internet connection (eg. by disabling the network adapter with control panel)
  2. Attempt to run AoE2DE

This was posted in November:

The only workaround I’m aware of: Launch the game with active Internet connection, then disconnect and continue using the game.
