Game ignores/forgets language it was set to

The game forgets the language it is set to In-Game and always resets to The system default language (German) after closing and starting it the next time.
I have the steam setting for AOE set to English as well as the In-Game setting itself.
All my German friends are experiencing the same problem as well.

Here’s the steps to reproduce the issue:

  1. Have German (other language) as System default
  2. Set the steam settings for AoE II DE to English
  3. Start the game
  4. It is in German
  5. Set language in game to a different language
  6. Set language in game to English and Save
  7. Game is in English
  8. Close the game
  9. Start the game again
  10. Game is in German again
  11. Check in game settings and steam setting, both are still set to English
  12. Repeat steps 5-12

:point_down: What was SUPPOSED to happen if the bug you encountered were not present?
Start the Game and have it be the language I set it to.
