For the past few months I’ve been having a technical problem, namely that whenever I play AoE II DE ranked my game keeps randomly freezing. I don’t think it’s lag; I can stream and video-call just fine, no problems, and the problem is there whether I’m home alone or my partner uses the WiFi as well. I also just played a fairly enjoyable single player 1v1 that I treated as ranked as much as possible, and found the exact same issue was occuring. I thought it was a computer issue at first as my computer was about ten years old, so I bought a new one (which I’d wanted to do anyway) thinking that would resolve the problem, and… the exact same freezing problem still occurs on my new computer.
My old PC uses Windows 10, my new one uses Windows 11. Both usually had Dropbox, Google Drive and Discord running in the background, so I tried playing a game without those running and it didn’t change anything. Now I’ve got no idea anymore, which is why I’m turning to you guys. These random freezes thankfully haven’t cost me many matches (they usually don’t happen at a pivotal moment) but it’s still very annoying to play with these. What do I need to do so that DE runs smoothly?
