There definitely appears to be something fishy with how the Settings GUI updates—or not updates—especially when some settings become invisible.

For example:

  • Toggle Lock Teams to YES
  • Toggle Victory to Last Man Standing
  • Toggle Victory to Standard

After enabling Last Man Standing, the Lock Teams setting is automatically set to No (untoggled) and becomes invisible. However, when switching to Standard mode, it displays as YES (toggled), even though it is actually NO (untoggled).

A video clip might help understanding the issue:

A similar issue occurs when switching from Battle Royale mode to Random Map mode. (Ensure not to auto-apply best settings.)

Steps to reproduce:

  • Set the game mode to Random Map and the victory condition to Standard.
  • Switch the game mode to Battle Royale, which automatically changes the victory condition to Conquest.
  • Switch back to Random Map mode.
  • Notice that the victory condition still appears as “Standard”.
  • Start the game and observe that the victory condition is actually set to Conquest.

(Discovered using this api link.)

Thanks for your report @cmfrydos we’re now tracking this issue.

I also noticed a related issue when switching from the Random Map game mode to Co-Op Campaign, and then back to Random Map. Internally, although the slots are pre-populated with Scenario AI Parties (as indicated by the API), their Color, Civ, and Team details are not displayed. Additionally, the Civilisation Set dropdown menu becomes unavailable

Below is a screenshot captured after switching to the Tours Co-Op Campaign and then returning to Random Map, along with the corresponding AI readout indicating that the slots have been populated:
