So, that was it then.
We had more information from an E-mail than we did from actual Gamescom. This is on top of the long silence that is seemingly still present. Don’t get me wrong, I am excited for Japan, other civilizations and Campaigns; but, we really did not get any real information. I suspect the expansion won’t be out until next year, and maybe not even in the first quarter, I’ll be honest.
However, things aren’t all that nice. There is no attempt at explaining what is going on with the studio, why there was nothing to show at Gamescom, why they are even staying silent to begin with, there is no attempt at trying to explain what happened to @SavageEmpire566 and the bug-segment of the forums, and really, no real reason to play until whenever this expansion will be out.
They announced a little event with more stickers and collectables for a broken banner system, an event about gaia which is either a cruel joke or a hint towards what’s to come. I won’t hold out my hopes for that one considering the underdelivery of everything so far.
No news on whether they will enhance the environment in any significant way, in fact, they seem to be doing a lot of the same mistakes with the new Japanese biome of overusing the same god damn trees and terrain, making it look like a slight variant of already existing Biomes, with a couple of pink trees here and there. Nothing on whether they will improve the lighting, or add effects or improve visuals of water.
No news on the editor, if there will be more guides for it or any updates or any real attempts at turning it into the actual ingame editor everyone asked for, and not this botched out-of-the-game modders editor only.
They didn’t even bring up the fact that we have had no roadmap for the majority of this year. Mind you; the Console thing was the last portion of that roadmap, meaning they should have followed up with another roadmap lest they have no intentions of continuing to develop new meaningful features. But, it is hard to know since they won’t say.
To summarize; too much silence. There is a lot they could answer to put people’s minds at ease, but they would rather play mind games and stay silent. The answer I take it is that they will be doing none of these things, and that is why they stay silent.
It is all too bitter to have expectations from this game, even basic ones. We’ll see if anything changes when this expansion is out, or if this is actually how they intend to sail this ship for the next few years of development.
