Gaunlet lvl 99: An anti-achievement?

This defeats my “completionist compulsion” being too extreme and pointless pushing me more towards not caring for all achievements at all, than pushing towards ultimate completion.

Let’s be honest, you need to be a completionist to even care for this with a very intense compulsion., don’t you think?

Also, the lack of rewards in-between at bosses is demotivating.

Please reconsider this or reduce the exp needed for each level-up.

Yea, that ahivement is gonna be quite the grind unless you exploit with mods

I was really disappointed that the new patch didn’t include new rewards for completing labyrinths once you have already unlocked all legends and that one eternal blessing that doubles the effects of god technologies. If they expect players to grind all the way to level 99, they should keep things interesting on the journey.

I hope they address this on a future patch, until then I’ll keep playing normal skirmishes.

The grind doesn’t bother me if there are trinkets to be earned along the way, whether it is profile icons, god portraits, badges, blessings, whatever would be nice.

Hi, I wanted to attempt this achievement before saying anything, but after 50 hours of grinding, I say the following criticism with heart and love for the game: yeah this is cruel.

I play on legendary, and I have managed to cut my average run time down to 27 minutes through trial and error. The problem is though, even at a 27 minute run time, I am only halfway done with the achievement at level 70. I say this, because with the increasingly steep XP margins that come with each level up, in terms of cumulative XP I am probably closer to midway then I am finishing.

This achievement inherently punishes you for playing the mode the way it was intended to be. Enjoying random blessings, legends ability, and chaos events all slow you down and inhibit your progress on the achievement. if I enjoyed those things, maybe more than 2 times, then my run would be pushing past an hour 30 minutes. So inherently, if I want the achievement, I will have to opt to rush so fast that I experience none of the features or else I will be completing the game so slow that I’m better off not trying for the achievement.

So yeah, to call this an anti-achievement would not be unreasonable given how unachievable it currently feels in spite of me cutting down my average time to be as fast as possible. If I have played so much I have begun to memorize all the possible nodes, achieved all badges, and experienced all the snippets of content in between my rushes 20 times over, don’t you think that warrants as completing the mode?

I’m not going to be critical without giving some ideas on how they can fix it though:

  1. Have badges grant a flat amount of XP. For example, getting a difficult badge such as the “Supreme Deity” could grant like 30K XP.
    1. Once you achieved all those badges, like I currently have, then your gauntlet will just fly up to the max. It make even the non-flashy ones appetizing to grab since most people are only going to work for the 3 flashy ones to display on their profile.
  2. Increase the multiplier for harder difficulties
    1. In RTS games, one of the most fundamental principles is that the more enemies there are, the exponentially harder it is, not linearly. That being said, I wonder why the legendary multiplier is only 8 despite them asking you to do a 1v4 for the finale each time as opposed to a titan match where you only have 2 opponents and such.
  3. Make the levels consistent. Don’t make it so it increases XP each level.
    1. So for example, at level 98, it would take the same amount of XP as level 5 to level up. This would be huge in making the grind possible.
  4. Simply just adjust the XP requirement for each level.
    1. Probably what most people would suggest.

Yeah an achievement for getting to 99 at this time just feels like an insult to the achievement hunters out there.

I’m holding out hope that more content/ eternal rewards are added to the gauntlet mode, because I could definitely see myself grinding to get all of those. Holding out hope that by the time I would get all of those, I’d be like lvl 80 so the grind to 99 isn’t as bad once all the other rewards are exhausted.

That is, until they add the lvl 999 achievement.

There was a game where you had to be 1st rank in competitive multilayer for one achievement. Good luck completing that game.
