Issue:
The Gold shading effect doesn’t look the same with values over 100% as it did before the latest patch. This has very negatively affected many potential shading combinations and reduced the range of colors that can be made by combining different shading types.
This problem can easily be shown by using my Modder Map with all the units & objects available in the editor: https://www.ageofempires.com/mods/details/308828/
I’ve done a lot of work to come up with over 100 great shading combinations for modders to use, but many of them don’t work anymore (i.e. look much worse) since this latest patch.
Devs - Please revert this change! It started in the patch from Feb 27 and persists after the DLC launch.
Examples:
1 - Before patch: See Gold rugs on bottom row.
1 - After patch: Gold rugs no longer look the same above 100%. Much less color.
2 - Before patch: Awesome shading combination I named “Nice Work, Bone Daddy”
2 - After patch: Looks completely different and much worse now.
3 - Before patch: Awesome red & blue shading combination I named “Interrupted Wololo”
3 - After patch: Look how they massacred my boy…
4 - Before patch: Copper & bright blue combination I named “Piltover Heights”
4 - After patch: Et tu, Brute?
Trigger Event:
Use Gold shading effect with the value set to >100%. Compare to how it was before latest patch.
Repro Steps:
Use “Unit: Set Shading” trigger effect with Gold value set to >100%. Looks very different (i.e. much worse when combined with other shading effects) from how it did before latest patch.
