After playing some skirmishes i figured out that the AI on hard and as defensive AI is a good pick for my enemies so far (for me as a relaxed casual player of course ). But why does the DEFENSE ai on HARD only build wooden walls? That seems to be somehow wrong to me. Anyone else?
I am playing aagains AI for years…And i of course tested AI in this new version in all map for 10x.

Yes, seems like that. I’m always wondering why modern AoE games never get a simple ‘‘casual player’s ai’’. An Ai that builds walls, attacks sometimes with small armies from time to time and with bigger armies in the mid/late game. This ‘‘it’s all about spamming units aggressively and spamming buildings randomly as fast as possible’’ ai concept always bothered me. Now in AoM we have a ‘‘defensive AI’’ bit for what? This Ai never attacks (until space age after ours of gameplay haha) and didn’t even upgrades it’s walls. Really strange. I don’t think competitive players could enjoy Ais like they are nowadays in AoE games and casuals who play skirmishes with friedns against Ai definitely not. They build Ais for nobody really. I don’t get it at this point. Me and my friends wouldn’t play AoE2 or Return to Rome anymore if we wouldn’t have our own scripted AIs for that at this point. It’s not enjoyable with the standart Ais to play it casually like that. Ai enemies in AoE games are a sad story nowadays i guess.
For example Dota (warcraft version) has very good AI scripts. I’ve been a long time in a team that writes scripts for bots. It’s a different type of gameplay, but it’s written over 100,000 lines of code. I’m not a professional like them, but I’ve made my own bots for this game for example ( Burbenog TD v4.1 AI+ new version! (youtube.com).
Age of Mythology (one of the best game ever) should have good AI players because it’s very important,this game is more singleplayer than multiplayer I’m hoping that there are people in their studio who will work on improving the bots
