Have you played so many custom games that you have become terrible at the base game?

For long time I’ve been only playing 4v4 10x mod, michi, 4v4 amazon tunnel, or scenarios with heavy triggers. All sorts of crazy triggers with units even having something like 6000 HP, or 50 attack. I simply can’t play a ranked game good for the most part.

You’re not the only one.

I’ve never actually been interested in ranked, generally because I don’t really like many of the mechanics they force you to play:

  • Shrinking trees with a MOD for vision.
  • Building buildings like a circular fort to palisade, instead of a pretty city.
  • Fighting in Feudal age, when unique units only came out in the Castle Age.
  • Having to destroy all enemy villagers to win.

I’m more into playing with Campaign Scenarios (custom or official), Regicide, Protect the Wonder, Total Conquest, etc. in Single Player. And in multiplayer, I can play normal mode, as long as it’s on fun maps (Europe, World Conquest, Full Forest, etc.).
