So you probably have already fixed “unpopular” landmarks and the following idea was before Ottoman but I am sharing it anyway.
Personally I like the Hisar and the Supta fine. Both are passive resources in the bank! Meanwhile the other two landmarks kind of give you passive resources but in the form of free units. So the Palace of the Sultan (the Elephant Palace) gives you 400 gold and 600 food every 2 minutes or so. Same with the Khaganate Palace. BUT, if you are pop limited you LOSE that money. If I have the Hisar, I get resources in the bank and I can just buy elephants. Also I think some players kind of blow off 1 elephant as insignificant and dislike the randomness of the Khaganate.
- (1) One idea is you could have them queue up when pop limited so more than 1 unit comes out when other units die (could apply to Ottoman as well).
- (2) Or you get the money for the unit and the unit creation starts over (which could also apply to Ottoman)
…but my preferred idea is: - (3) Wyngard (or Farimba) method of free passive resources. In these landmarks you queue units like regular buildings but you get an an awesome deal and can’t lose the money when pop limited. And it would be more popular and interesting than just 1 elephant or random horsemen and mangudai. It is essentially a different method of passive resources but is not affected by a pop limit for the most part (though maybe if you have more than 15 Wyngards queued I suppose).
Imagine an “Elephant Sultan Wyngard Palace” where you can choose between essentially something like a “Sultan Army” and “Sultan Raiders” and “Sultan Rangers”.
e.g. 1 Archer Elephant, 1 War Elephant, and 2 MMA, 1 monk for the price of half an elephant or something like that.
Or perhaps, for Mongol, instead of random units, you could choose the “Khaganate Raiders” for 200 resources, which gives you 2 Mangudai, 2 lancers, and 2 horsemen, etc… You get the idea.
Thanks for considering.
