Higher Rank Partner getting more ranked points despite my lower ELO

I have a 961 2v2 ELO with a Gold 3 Rank.

My partner has a 1186 2v2 ELO with a Plat 1 Rank.

We’re about the same 1v1 ELO.

In every 2v2 game we’re playing he is gaining more points than me in the games we win and losing less points than me in the games we lose.

Despite playing our 2v2s together most of the time, the divide has grown to a point that he is treading in to Plat 2 while I am borderline Gold 2.

Is this normal? It seems backwards. I would expect that the lower ELO/ranked player be getting more ranked points than the higher ELO/ranked teammate in games we win against similar to higher ranked opponents.

Any info on this?

I’m curious to know how they calculate this score.

When I started playing ranked, it was just with two friends. We always played together and only among ourselves, never separately. Because of this, our scores were exactly the same, there was no difference at all.

This makes me think that the score has nothing to do with individual actions during the match. Of course, this was in the first season when group ranked mode was introduced, and I don’t know if it has changed since then.
