Hello community. I want to make a unit that simulates rain, snowfall, and hailstorm, but the graphics are below the buildings and other units, I have not found what options to put in the AGE to achieve that effect.
I have seen that unit 620 that is part of the Town Center all the units pass under it but I don’t know how it is achieved, I don’t know if it is by configuring a property in the graphics or in the unit or in both.
Very cool. Look forward to seeing this if you release or show to public.
If you don’t mind a quick critique on that image(?) which may even be ‘work in progress’ so take my words with a grain of salt… I think the rain streaks should be more transparent and/or dimmer, so they’re not as bright. Maybe thinner, too? Hard to tell how it will look because the image is zoomed in, though. Maybe it’s fine when zoomed out
I agree, but those sprites are not mine I took them from the HeavenGames page.
How could I make the image more transparent? I ask because fog also covers a lot, can I do it with an image editor or with the AGE can you make the sprites more transparent?
I’m not exactly sure, sorry. But this info may help a little?
I do know .PNG and .TGA files can save Alpha information (semi-transparent values) in them, though, while .JPGs do not. GIFs can, too, but maybe aren’t the best at it.
I’m not sure what format the files from HeavenGames are or if they have alpha values in them? If not, you could try making your own, or editing the images in Photoshop or Krita to become semi-transparent, or asking the community to make. I also wonder, would the game support semi-transparent images for this purpose?, I don’t know
If the game actually needs .DDS image files to work, I don’t know the exact way to make them. But I think it involves using a plug-in from nVidia that I believe is free to get
