How do I copy a mod I have made so that I can alter it and make a new mod?

For example, I have created a mod that alters max pop and most units individual pop. I want to keep this mod as is, but I also want a mod that uses those same values but where I alter many units other values, but I don’t want to have to rebuild the original mod.

Every way I have tried ends up making my original mod not work.

Open your mod in EssenceEditor (Content Editor). Then click File → Save As → Save as a new mod and build to that one, should be a different build now.

this doesn’t seem to work for me, or maybe I’m doing something wrong. When I do that, the new mod doesn’t populate on the list of mods in the Content Editor, and it also doesn’t populate in the in game mod list.
