How does blocking a user work?

Does anyone know how the blocking feature works?
We all know that reporting players probably does very little unless the matter is very serious, (and that’s not necessarily a bad thing, as having a bit of chat and banter is part of the fun)

I only ask because recently I was building up a nice little block list because I was under the impression I would not get teamed up with them in ranked. This started out as me wanting to block people who were just really rude or whiny, and then went on to me wanting to block people who quit at the slightest thing and were selfish ranked players, and then it progressed to me wanting to block people who total noobs or just really bad or stupid - in all fairness, the matchmaking is fairly shocking.

I realised though that blocking people doesn’t stop them from being on your team in ranked, as I just got teamed with a guy I had already blocked.. and lo and behold.. the loser quit really early on when the game was balanced, if not we were winning. I hate it when people do that and so I block them.. but I get them as teammates again anyway. I do do a reporting as well occasionally.

If blocked players were prevented from being on your team, then I get that using the block feature could be abused, and you could start building up a block list like what I did to stop bad players being on your team, and essentially use the feature to try and improve your odds of winning, but having said that, people can join as clans on ranked, so why can’t I block quitters and poorly matched total noobs -
I can’t understand why total noobs getting scores of 6000 in the Classical Age should be teamed up on ranked with people who have played hundreds of games.. I guess it’s just low player numbers?

Anyway, does anyone know if the block feature does anything except prevent chatting? and also, How does the report feature work?, if I report someone will I have less chance of being teamed up with them?

Afaik, it only blocks them from joining your custom lobbies because in ranked, this feature could be then easily abused.

It seems like you should find someone to team up with so you don’t have to play with random players. That would solve your blocking issue. For the noobs shouldn’t you try to help them? A couple of pointers could go a long way for someone new to the game. Might allow them to get better and not bring your gaming experience down.
